James Cool joined Aiken Schenk Hawkins &
Ricciardi as a litigation associate. He is a 2010
graduate of the ASU Sandra Day O’Connor
College of Law, where he received national
recognition for excellence in oral advocacy. He
is an adjunct faculty member in the Barrett
Honors College at ASU and is a member of the
American Association for Justice and the
Arizona Association for Justice.
Gary Ansel joined Nussbaum Gillis &
Dinner PC in an Of Counsel capacity. He is a
senior litigator experienced in handling large
and complex cases and will continue to concentrate on commercial litigation with the firm.
Ansel earned his undergraduate degree
from Columbia University and his J.D. from
Duke University School of Law.
WHINERY
Mesch, Clark & Rothschild PC announced
its selection of two new firm leaders, effective
January 1: Brenda Moody Whinery is the
president and chair of the management committee, and Frederick Petersen is the treasurer and chief officer of the firm.
Whinery’s practice focuses on business
reorganization, bankruptcy, real estate and
commercial transactions. She will be in charge
of the attorney and community relations for
the firm.
Petersen’s practice focuses on bankruptcy,
business reorganization, commercial and real
estate law. As chief officer, Petersen will oversee
the finances and technological advances of the
firm.

GARBARINO
Sherman & Howard, Phoenix, has elected
David Garbarino as a member in the firm. He
practices in the Phoenix office and focuses on
commercial litigation and real estate-related
disputes. He received his law degree, magna
cum laude, from Arizona State University
Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in
2003. He received his bachelor’s degree from
the University of Arizona in 1997.

SHROYER
Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., a
Wisconsin-based law firm, has opened a new
office in Phoenix. Founded in 1894, Reinhart
is one of the nation’s 200 largest law firms. The
new office brings the total number of Reinhart
offices to six: Milwaukee, Madison and
Waukesha, Wisconsin; Rockford, Illinois;
Denver, Colorado; and now Phoenix.
The three Reinhart attorneys leading the
Phoenix office are John A. Erich, a shareholder in the Real Estate and Business Law Practice
Areas; William (Will) Invie Shroyer, a shareholder in the Real Estate, Banking and Finance,
and Business Law Practice Areas; and William
F. Flynn, the chair of the Banking and Finance
Practice Area.
Thomas Title & Escrow will open a new
office located at 2398 E. Camelback Rd., Suite
130, in the Biltmore Financial Center. This is
the second location for the growing Scottsdale-based company. The firm anticipates a late-February 2011 opening date for its Phoenix
expansion. Attorney Frank W. Busch III is
president of the firm.
