By judgment and order dated Oct. 23, 2014, the
presiding disciplinary judge accepted an agreement for discipline by consent by which William
G. Was III, Phoenix, was reprimanded. He also
was assessed the costs and expenses of the disciplinary proceeding and placed on probation
requiring the completion of two CLE courses.
In the underlying matter, Mr. Was provided
legal services to a business in which he believed
he had acquired an equity interest. In providing
such services and allegedly acquiring an equity
interest, Mr. Was failed to comply with Ethical
Rule 1. 8(a) regarding a potential conflict of
interest. Around the same time, Mr. Was also
communicated directly with a person represented by counsel in violation of ER 4. 2, and later
failed to timely respond to the State Bar’s investigation in violation of Rule 54(d)( 2).

of the disciplinary proceeding by failing for a
period of months to respond to the State Bar’s

record and inexperience in the practice of law.
