Christie LLP, was elected to membership in the
American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
She represents public, private and non-profit
clients, and her practice also includes government
law, representing state, local and tribal governments. She also advises on campaign finance,
election and lobbying laws.
The Arizona City Attorneys Association announced that Gust Rosenfeld attorney Phyllis
Smiley was elected as its President. She began
her one-year term in September.

The City of Nogales is recruiting for a City Attorney. This
position is in charge of all the legal affairs of the City and
advices the City Council, the City Manager and all other
department heads.
This is an at-will position, not under coverage of the City
Personnel Manual. It is appointed by and reports directly
to the City Council. This position serves as the head of the
City’s legal department, which consists of a Civil Division
and Criminal Division. The City Attorney exercises direct
supervision over professional and clerical staff within the
legal department.
REQUIRED KNO WLEDGE AND SKILL OF: City policies
and procedures; Municipal, State and Federal court
systems; State and Federal Criminal and Civil Rules of
Procedure; Using initiative, discretion and judgment
within established procedures guidelines and rules;
Defining problems; establishing facts and drawing valid
conclusions; Managing situations requiring diplomacy,
fairness, firmness and sound judgment; Multi-tasking;
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working
relationships with managers, supervisors, employees,
external public and private agencies, crime victims
and the general public; Communicating effectively
both verbally and in writing; and operating a personal

or managerial position exercising policy
making authority; Five ( 5) years court litigation
experience
