Highlights
State Bar of Arizona Friday Luncheon
Featuring Justice Alan Page
Minnesota’s first African-American
Supreme Court Justice, Justice Alan C. Page, was
elected to the court in 1992 and was reelected in
1998 and 2004. Justice Page is widely renowned
for his former career as a professional football
player. Elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame
in 1988, he is best known for his defensive efforts with the Minnesota Vikings in the 1970s.
His work in support of equal education for all
children includes the establishment of the Page
Education Foundation, which now awards nearly
550 grants annually to students of color and
engages in other efforts to motivate young men
and women of color to pursue education beyond
high school. The Foundation has awarded more
than $5 million in scholarships to more than
4,600 students since its inception.
A book about his life, All Rise: The Remarkable
Journey of Alan Page, was released in 2010 and
includes a foreword by former President Bill
Clinton.
We will also honor State Bar members with our
annual awards presentation and recognize those
who have practiced law in the state for 50 years.
