Robert McWhirter in August completed a
two-week lecture tour in Spanish for the U.S.
State Department in Northern Mexico on
Judicial Reform and Oral Trials. During the
tour, he presented to more than 1,500 Mexican
federal and state Supreme Court justices,
judges, lawyers, law professors and law students.
His work included press conferences, interviews
and appearances on Mexican television to support reform efforts and U.S. foreign policy initiatives.
John Craiger, of Quarles & Brady LLP, was
designated as an advocate for the National
Institute for Trial Advocacy.
Snell & Wilmer announced that Don Bivens, a
partner in the Phoenix office, was inducted into
the Maricopa County Bar Association Hall of
Fame.
Cheyenne Walsh of Squire Sanders was named
to the Greater Phoenix Chamber of
Commerce’s Valley Young Professionals Board
of Directors.
The Scottsdale Bar Association announced
that the recipient of its 2013 Award of
Excellence is Paige A. Martin, a partner in the
litigation department of the Scottsdale office of
Kutak Rock LLP.
Richard N. Goldsmith, a partner in the
Business Section of Lewis Roca Rothgerber, was
invited by the Phoenix Art Museum to serve
another three-year term as a member of the
museum’s Board of Directors. He has served on
the board since 1997.
T. James Lee, a shareholder and director at
Fennemore Craig in the firm’s Phoenix office,
was elected to the Board of Directors for Ballet
Arizona.
Russell Yurk, an attorney with Jennings,
Haug & Cunningham, was appointed to Chair
the Defense Research Institute Lawyers’
Professionalism and Ethics Committee. Prior to
this appointment, he served as the Vice-Chair of
the committee. His two-year term as Chair commenced at DRI’s Annual Meeting in October.

that attorney Maura Quigley joined the
Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation
Emerging Leaders, an organization of young
entrepreneurs and early career professionals that
support Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Perkins Coie partner Howard R. Cabot, a
member of the firm’s Antitrust & Unfair
Competition Litigation practice, has been
admitted as a Fellow to the American College
of Trial Lawyers.
Stefan Palys, an associate in the Phoenix office
of Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP, was recognized by the American Bar Association Young
Lawyers Division as a Star of the Year at the
annual meeting.
