tegic Agenda Award for Enhancing
Professionalism within Arizona’s
Courts, given by the Arizona
Supreme Court. They and their
courts were recognized for drafting
the best-practice document “Ensur-
ing Access to Justice for Self-Repre-
sented Litigants in Civil Cases,”
which encourages judges to ensure
self-represented litigants have their
matters fully, completely, and fairly
heard.
Jeffrey D. Gardner, an attorney at

Co-Chair of the American Bar
Association’s Trial Practice Committee. Part of the ABA’s Section of
Litigation, the committee promotes
fairness and justice in the American
legal system by enhancing the lives

Ariz. Sen. Steve Yarbrough, the
Majority Leader at the State Senate,
was named 2015 Arizona Capitol
Times Leader of the Year in Public
Policy. He was chosen for garner-
ing bipartisan support, including
gathering the necessary votes to ad-
vance the state budget. An attorney
and executive director of the Arizo-
na Christian School Tuition Organi-
zation, he has helped provide schol-
arships to thousands of Arizona
students to attend the school of
their parent’s choice.
Shawn K. Aiken was admitted as a
Fellow of the American College of
Trial Lawyers. He was inducted on
October 3 at the organization’s annual meeting in Chicago. Founded
in 1950, the ACTL is composed of
outstanding trial attorneys from the
United States and Canada. Fellowship is limited to just one percent of
a state’s lawyers and is extended by
invitation only.
