By the presiding disciplinary judge’s May 16,
2017, judgment and order, Vernon E. Peltz,
Tucson, was suspended from the practice of law
for two years, retroactive to July 15, 2016, the
effective date of his interim suspension. He was
assessed $4,597.65 in costs and expenses for the
On Dec. 4, 2015, a jury convicted Mr. Peltz
of felony and misdemeanor assault charges. He
admitted he intentionally did not report his felony conviction to the State Bar as required under
Rule 61(c)( 1), ARIZ.R.S.CT. On July 15, 2016,
in PDJ No. 2016-9064, Mr. Peltz was placed on
interim suspension pending the outcome of his
Aggravating factors were prior discipline, bad
faith obstruction of the disciplinary proceedings,
and substantial experience in the practice of law.
The lone mitigating factor was remoteness of
Mr. Peltz’s misconduct was knowing, and
there was actual harm to his mother and potential
harm to the public. Mr. Peltz violated Rule 42,
ARIZ.R.S.CT., ERs 8. 4(b) and 8. 4(d), and Rules
54(g) and 61(c)( 1), ARIZ.R.S.CT.
